1860 (June 23) Envelope mailed from Yarmouth to Durham, England, via Halifax, franked with Six pence yellow green and a diagonally bisected Three pence bright blue, both with full margins and cancelled by oval mute grids; clear Yarmouth JU 23 1860 double arc datestamp in red, oval “H” (Halifax) JU 27 transit and Durham JY 9 receiver CDS on reverse, some backflap faults, accompanying certificate states: “While stamps are not tied to the cover, in the opinion of the committee the cover and usage of the stamps appear to be genuine in all respects.” A nice example of the Seven and One Half pence rate to England, Fine to Very Fine; 2002 Greene Foundation certificate (Unitrade 2a, 4; catalogue value $5,000) ex.
