Canada 13

1859 Six pence brownish grey on medium wove paper, perf 11¾, an outstanding mint example of this very difficult stamp from Canada’s first perforated issue, well centered with perforations well clear of design on three sides, intact perforations all around, displaying the most amazing colour one can hope to find on this classic stamp, full original gum showing only a light trace of hinging. We do not recall offering another mint example with such incredible colour – a visually striking stamp that no doubt, ranks among the very finest extant, Very Fine, Lightly Hinged (Unitrade 13; catalogue value $87,500)
