Canada 9a

1857 Seven and One Half pence dark green on medium wove paper, imperforate, a remarkably fresh mint example in the distinctive deep rich shade – very seldom encountered and in our opinion, undervalued; adequate to very large margins with razor-sharp impression and possessing large part original gum. A truly difficult shade to find and especially desirable in such outstanding quality, Extremely Fine, Original Gum (Unitrade 9a; catalogue value $30,000+)

Expertization: 1987 & 2006 Greene Foundation certificates

Provenance: Captain Vivian Hewitt, Robson Lowe Ltd. December 11, 1968; Lot 1026
