Item # S007900
Nova Scotia 7
1851 One shilling "cold" dull violet on bluish wove paper, imperforate, an exemplary mint single of this great rarity displaying superb bright colour and clear impression associated with this sought-after and much harder to find First Printing. A remarkable stamp surrounded by mostly large margins, part original gum – all attributes that are virtually non-existent on this classic stamp; pencil signed on reverse by experts Giulio Bolaffi and Alberto Diena. Nicholas Argenti wrote: "There may be less than a dozen copies of cold violet unused in existence." An absolute beauty of peerless quality, Extremely Fine, Original Gum (Unitrade 7; catalogue value $70,000)
Expertization: 1963 Alberto Diena and 2019 Greene Foundation certificates
AN INCOMPARABLE MINT EXAMPLE OF THE VERY RARE ONE SHILLING COLD VIOLET.
